Experiences

As the largest temperate rainforest in the world, the Great Bear Rainforest is home to hundreds of species of animals that make up one of the most bio-diverse areas on the planet. Daily excursions and tours will vary depending on recent wildlife sightings, guest interests, and weather. Some days could be spent waiting patiently in one river system for wildlife to appear, while others could involve visiting several locations. Helly Hanson rain jackets, pants and rain boots are provided for guests to use while at the lodge and out in the field.

Travelling to and From the Lodge

Guests will start their adventure with us by boarding a flight at Vancouver International Airport’s South Terminal for a 1hr 20min flight to Bella Bella. From there, our guests will be shuttled to the dock where a Spirit Bear Lodge crew boat will be waiting to transport guests the 90 minutes north to Klemtu where the lodge is located.

Along the way, guests may see their first glimpses of wildlife in the Great Bear Rainforest, along with stunning vistas of high mountain tops and the deep fiords of Canada’s pristine West Coast.

There are regular delays due to fog or weather conditions in Bella Bella and sometimes the Pacific Coastal flight schedule will change on short notice. It is a small, remote airport. We strongly recommend planning to stay overnight in Vancouver before and after your stay, due to these delays.

Your flight details can be found via a link at the bottom of your booking invoice. The flights from Vancouver depart from the South Terminal which is located a short drive from the main terminal. Here are some helpful links for preparing for your travel:
